Anyone know Gawab?

Postby Allwyna » Sun Apr 19, 2009 9:23 pm

Hi,

It is my first post here, and I hope you will help me. And I am not sure I am in the right place.

I have 10 different emails (each one specialized). I use Outlook 2007 as my email client, so I can get all the mails coming at a glance, wherever they come from, except Yahoo and Hotmail of course
- yahoo, when it is not important, hotmail the same and no help with Outlook, and they are really not sophisticated
- Gmail, that I hate! I never understood the interface, there is no help at all, and more important, they don't permit to download to several computers. So, if Outlook is open in 2 or 3 of my computers, the fastest one will receive the email from Gmail, and I will miss it in the others. And even though they say the contrary, whatever my settings, I can't download chosen emails
- Vfemail, that I love, works very well, very fast and efficient help... but has only 50 MB storage.
- Fastmail, but only IMAP for free, very good though

I leave all my emails on the servers... in case, and I may need to refer to one a few years back.

So I read about Gawab, I went there, there is 10 GB storage.... Seemed great. But it is a muslim site, with a lot of muslim ads, that hurts my religious neutrality. And I have problems setting my Outlook. At the beginning they replied nicely to my emails asking for help, but they don't anymore, maybe because I asked if I could get rid of those ads

Anyone could help me, please? with a free big storage POP3 email? That would be greatly appreciated, I want to get rid of Gmail ASAP.

Thanks a lot

I think you should keep using gmail since there is a solution for your problem.
Gmail allows download all option for mail messages so whenever you setup your mail client(s) just make sure not to download only new messages...

Hi,

Thanks for your reply...

Since my first message I tried hard to work with gawab.... no success. The outgoing doesn't work, they helped me (or pretended) at the beginning, asking me to send screenshots, but never gave me a solution. Then after a few days, the incoming doesn't work either. So I gave up. :x

About gmail.... I did what you advised me to... and I find 2200 emails in one computer, and >4500 in the other one. This because I already did it, and the emails kept downloading, it took all night. But the third one was off at that time, now the emails don't arrive. And those from this morning arrive AGAIN only in one. I have an error, but I can't figure out what it is (incoming can't connect with the server or something like that). The settings are the same in all 3. And there is absolutely NO help in Gmail. I already asked for it, nobody replied, they are only volunteers, no Google members. Maybe I am the only one on earth with this issue

Could you please help me to solve the problem? I really don't like the interface, why don't use the same words as everyone else: email or message, not conversation (when they are in spam they are hardly conversations!!!), next instead of newest etc... I find that stupid. But if I could get my "emails" (not conversations), in all computers, I could live with that.

It seems there are not many of them. Many are Webmail based, or they don't say. I also tried LPE, my password is not recognized and they don't reply to the emails asking for help. So I gave up too.

I would be very grateful. Thanks.

In Gmail settings > Forwarding and POP, select to download emails from now on. Save Changes. Then only new emails will download.

As to downloading same mail to multiple accounts, use Recent Mode

Regarding the original topic, Gawab, I use it as a secondary email service. They have POP3, IMAP, and SMTP access. They are not good at receiving Yahoo Groups mail, as they block some that does not agree with their religion (Gawab is from Egypt).

Good luck, Warren
