MSN requires subscription to access new hotmail addresses?

Postby a133518 » Mon Jun 27, 2005 5:36 am

I use Incredimail as my email client, and I attempted to add a new Hotmail address to my list of email accounts. When Incredimail tried to access it, I received an error message that said: "Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription." I do not use either of these to access my email and Incredimail is listed as my default email client under the Internet Options program tab.

Is Microsoft preventing all newly acquired Hotmail addresses from being accessed via a local email client?

Hotmail no longer has POP access, not even paid service. So you cannot connect to Hotmail via Incredimail.

The only way you can access Hotmail with an email client is HTTPmail, which only Outlook and Outlook Express has.
